
KOUASSI YAO GERARD is the winner of the 2023 US WEST AFRICA TECH CHALLENGE. The US WEST AFRICA TECH CHALLENGE 2023 was organized across the African continent by UNDP, the U.S. Embassy in COTE D’IVOIRE, and the Global Engagement Center (of the U.S. Department of State). Through the OUKAMY project, which aims to combat climate misinformation in rural areas, KOUASSI YAO GERARD, founder of the social enterprise ADARA, secured the first place in this competition. KOUASSI YAO GERARD is one of around twenty young individuals from across Francophone Africa after a rigorous selection process. As the founder of ADARA, he participated in the Connexion Citoyenne 2 program funded by the French Development Agency and implemented by CFIMEDIA as part of the civic tech project support. KOUASSI YAO GERARD was present at the workshop for sharing and planning digital investment options to support pastoralism in the Sahel and West Africa. As the founder of ADARA, he was one of the five technological solutions selected by the RBM (Billital Maroobe Network) to be presented to all the stakeholders in attendance. KOUASSI YAO GERARD was present at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco in June 2023, on the invitation of EGRIEDGE and the AGRITECH CENTER of the university. It was an opportunity for him to discover many new approaches that can be put into practice in Côte d’Ivoire upon his return to support and assist local agricultural stakeholders.

Following a call for applications that saw participation from over 7,600 young individuals worldwide, KOUASSI YAO GERARD is among the 30 young leaders selected to participate in the KAZAN OIC Youth Capital 2022. This provided him with an opportunity to meet with other young leaders in Tatarstan, in KAZAN, and discuss potential collaborations in the fields of agriculture, climate, and the environment. KOUASSI YAO GERARD was named the most active contributor to the 2020 Francophone Youth Consultations, which saw participation from over 10,000 young individuals worldwide. These consultations provided an opportunity for Francophone youth to express their views on topics such as the environment, climate, agriculture, education, and more.
